The Patterns Quartet formed at the University of Central Florida in 2013 to record and perform an album of music for two marimbas an two vibraphones. The quartet was created by Thad Anderson, Jacob Kight, Karen Toney, and Marissa Turney. The album, featuring the music of Marc Mellits, Jonathan Kolm, Thad Anderson, Paul Lansky, and Scott Lindroth, was released through Flying Horse Records in November of 2014. The quartet is currently beginning work on a second album of newly composed pieces for this performance medium.
